Constellation

Project Overview

Constellation is a custom lighting installation designed and fabricated for Galileo's Pavilion as part of Studio 804's design-build process. Inspired by Leo Villareal's light installations at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art and conceptually linked to the restored Dale Eldred sundial sculpture in the pavilion courtyard, the project explores the relationship between architecture, light, and time.

Hundreds of fiber optic points create a constellation-like field of light that evokes the night sky, complementing the sundial's connection to the movement of the sun during the day. Together, the two installations create a dialogue between natural and artificial light while reinforcing the pavilion's identity through craftsmanship, material expression, and experiential design.
